Joe's [KA3TDQ] Amateur Radio Classes

Our group moderator Joe Sciulli regularly organizes and teaches ham radio classes to help people get their FCC Amateur Radio Licenses. The classes are also coordinated with follow-up official VE (Volunteer Examiner) Testing. Classes are available for all three llicense levels, Technician, General, and Amateur Extra. 

 

Contact Joe Sciulli at KA3TDQ@Verizon.net to sign up. The classes are sponsored by your local Salvation Army SATERN Team and the Allegheny County Emergency Operations Center.

 

* S.A.T.E.R.N. - The Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) as a part of its mission, conducts amatuer radio training classes for the general public as well as team personnel. The classes are free of charge and there are no age restrictions and walk-ins are always welcome. Wednesday (7-9 PM) classes take place at The Salvation Army's Disaster Services Headquarters at 825 Parish Street in Greentree. Thursday (7-9 PM) classes are jointly sponsored with the Allegheny County Department of Emergency Services and are held at the County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 400 North Lexington Street in the Point Breeze section of Pittsburgh. The classes are conducted by SATERN Team Training Officer, Mr. Joe Scuilli KA3TDQ, an Amateur Extra class licensed ham radio operator with many years experience, assisted by other members of the SATERN Team. JOE'S HAM CLASSES - Some Information for the Prospective Ham


There 3 classes of amateur license: Technician, General, and Extra
* TECHNICIAN current question pool is good until JUNE 30 2009
* GENERAL current question pool is good until JUNE 30 2008
* EXTRA current question pool is good until a new cutoff is announced.

 

Items Needed for all Exams
* FCC Form 605 - Will be filled out at the testing Session, Used for Sending Results to the FCC
* ANSWER SHEET - for the test which is taken and graded at the (VE) Volunteer Examiner Testing Session
* CSCE FORM - FCC Form that the VEs fill ouot for you.

* You will need to present two forms of PHOTO IDENTIFICATION.

     Also, Please bring a photocopy of each.

*THE FEE FOR THE TESTING SESSION IS $ 14.00

(A list of GRAPHICS/SCHEMATIC SYMBOLS is provided at test time.)

 

Note: If there is extra time available, you may try more than one exam at a VE Testing Session,

     the fee is the same for one or more tests.

 

After the (VEs) Volunteer Examiners check your test, YOU WILL KNOW IF YOU PASS OR FAIL.

 


 

Morse Code Test (Element 1)

Has officially been eliminated by the FCC as a requirement for any Ameteur Radio Licenses.


Technician Class (Element 2)
There are 385 Questions in the Technician Exam Pool.

You need only answer 26 QUESTIONS correctly OF THE 35 Questions. (74% To Pass)

You are required to answer at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. (74% to Pass)
